Couple of Great Photos from DTA Members

Driftless Trout Anglers has been loads of fun this season.  The forum is really picking up.  We get a ton of stream reports, they are very popular.  Can  you believe we have already 1600 listed?  I explain this as being a trout fishing community serving the Driftless Area of the Midwest.

What differentiates this board from the multitude of trout forums out there is our board we are more open and into sharing stream names and even locations.  Many of us believe that being open about good fishing areas gets more people into the sport.  For years fishermen have been frowned upon for sharing stream names, even banned from certain forums.

Perhaps even more importantly, DTA members are generally more down to earth and realistic.  Not all of us are brainwashed into blind catch and release.   It was Lee Wulff who said "Game fish are too valuable to only be caught once."  I say baloney.  Fishing is a blood sport and often fish are injured.  I'm not going to release injured fish to feed the racoons.  I enjoy eating fish and I practice selective harvest.  As bait anglers we can dead stick if we so please and not be persecuted for doing so.

Anyway, thanks for checking out my board, Driftless Trout Anglers. The board was started by yours truly, March 23, 2010 and we are already up to 278 members.  I own and operate the board.  It really does not cost much and the YAF software is pretty easy to run.  Heck, we even have made some improvements along the way.  I look forward to making more friends and watching this unique trout community grow.

Special thanks to friend Andy for the first two underwater photos taken with his iPhone, as well as blog follower Luke who caught the gorgeous tiger trout.

"I say baloney." I agree Mark. I keep what I'm going to eat for a meal or for the smoker. As for injured fish, I don't use treble hooks and I have found that using a long shank hook on the rigs I build results in far fewer potentially fatal injuries. I have yet to have a fish swallow one of those or get hooked in an eye like I have with double hooked rigs.

@ Howard. Thanks for the read and the comment. You live in a beautiful part of the country. Just browsing your blog briefly makes me want to get back out west to vacation. I added your Facebook page to one of my "likes."

@ Blake. Thanks for the unique compliment! Hope we can organize a conclave next summer. So many new online friends I've yet to meet in person. I look forward to your upcoming steelhead and salmon adentures.

I love the site Mark. More so than any other boards and I'm not just talking trout fishing. Chicago boards are almost as bad as a certain fly fishing board I know of. No senseless bickering on DTA like most other sites. Glad to be a member.

@Damien. So glad you are at DTA. Love the tips on steelhead and salmon. I look forward to reports from you and Blake and friends.

If you are ever turned off by any posts on DTA please send me an email. Some of the habitat improvement or trout regulation threads can get heated.
